Saturdays have a different atmosphere, and on the 13th of each month, there’s a unique service at 10:30 AM. This isn’t your usual tourist spot; it’s a sacred space. Shorts and mini-skirts are not allowed. If your outfit doesn’t meet the modesty standards, there’s cloth available to cover up. Whether you’re a man or a woman, dress appropriately and cover up to show respect. My wife even bought a scarf to ensure she was properly covered.
Sleeveless tops, tube tops, or any clothing that shows too much skin are discouraged. Save your beachwear for another time and choose clothes that reflect the solemnity of the environment.
Two officers at the gate ensure everyone follows the dress code. Avoid tight clothes, shorts, mini-skirts, sleeveless tops, low-cut shirts, and slippers. Respect the church! I can’t guarantee they’ll give you a cover-up if you’re not dressed properly, but everyone inside seems to follow the rules. Plan your outfits before you visit!
No Drones Allowed!
For those hoping to capture aerial views with a drone, there’s a catch—drones are not allowed. The Simala Shrine is a place of peace, and the noise from a drone disrupts the tranquility. Drones are seen as disrespectful to the sacredness of the area, especially when used for commercial or personal gain.
